ARE WE MAKING A DIFFERENCE? A future historian may very well look back on the church of the 21st. century and write a candid evaluation of its influence on society. It would probably be entitled “ The Search For Insignificance!” It is disturbing to realize that our generation of church leaders are dropping the ball when it comes to making a difference in the world in which we live. The survival of the church and of the nation we have known and loved will be determined by the degree of genuine revival and renewal which must come in the next few months and years. If there is not a spiritual awakening across our land, it is depressing to think about the world we are leaving our children and grandchildren. To have just another meeting will not get the job done. However, we must start somewhere. We are putting forth an effort at our BSCLN National Celebration in Little Rock to “ Making A Difference- Whatever It Takes”. The sessions on Thursday April 19 have been designed to wake us up and lead us to action. The first session will be “Reclaiming Our Character, Convictions and Courage” led by Dr. Richard Land. v "Where are the godly leaders in our homes, schools, community and nation?" Dr. Richard Land has served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s ETHICS & RELIGIOUS LIBERTY COMMISSION since 1988. He has represented Southern Baptist and other Evangelicals’ concerns in the halls of Congress, before U.S. Presidents, and in the media. As host of FOR FAITH & FAMILY, FOR FAITH & FAMILY”S INSIGHT and RICHARD LAND LIVE!, three nationally syndicated radio programs. Dr. Land speaks passionately and authoritatively on the social, ethical, and public policy issues facing our country. Dr. Land’s latest book, THE DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA? WHAT LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES ARE MISSING IN THE GOD-AND COUNTRY SHOUTING MATCH! Is published by Thomas Nelson. Dr. Land has also recently authored IMAGINE! A GOD-BLESSED AMERICA. The second session will be “Reclaiming Our Community” led by Dr. Ronnie Owens, evangelist and Director of Missions in East Tennessee. Dr. Owens will share with us how folks in eastern Tennessee and Kentucky are taking back their communities from the control of drugs and alcohol. The third session will be “Reclaiming Our Country” led by Dr. Rena Lindevaldsen, Associate Professor of Law at Liberty University where she leads efforts to advance religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and traditional family values. The events of that day alone are worthy of every effort needed to be a part of making a difference while we can. Check our website bivosmallchurch.net for a detailed agenda, location and a list of area hotels. The chapel at the Arkansas Baptist Convention seats 150. Will you be a part of the overflow crowd who will kneel to seek God’s power and blessing on His Church in these last days? I am looking forward to seeing you in April. |
